How it all began…

As a child Hayley remembers how her father was “at the office” most nights until very late and worked many weekends too and remembers the tension this caused in the family home.

On leaving school Hayley joined the family business and soon realised why Dad was working so hard. She discovered that he was running the business in such a way that it pretty much revolved around him which meant it all but consumed his life.

At the time his hard work resulted in his building UK’s largest independent Diamond Jewellery manufacturer and wholesaler and ‘yes’ he had been a great provider and ‘yes’ his family went without nothing…. Sadly though Hayley’s father had little quality time to enjoy life with his wife and family.

What do you want from your business? Surely not just work and more work?

After 20 years of successfully running and ultimately buying and taking ownership of the family’s business Hayley realised that whilst she wanted to be a successful business woman, living life to the full was just as important to her … this is something that recently Hayley discovered her Dad has wished for too, but had not been able to achieve.

So it was in 2005 that Hayley took the opportunity to with a business coach which turned out to be a life changing and liberating experience. In fact the impact that business coaching had upon her life and the realization that things could be so much better than they were, led her to become a coach herself.

Today, she is the driving force behind one of the most successful independent business coaching practices in the UK, she has given keynote addresses at UK and European Coach Conferences and been recognised with European and Global Awards for her Business Coaching.

13:15-14:00 - Terry Hodgkinson CBE DL - The Art of Inspirational Leadership

Terry is passionate about great design, heritage and place; he is an advocate of continuous learning and training and considers inspirational leadership a quality that influences growth and development of people in all aspects of their lives.

He has led the Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward as its chair for seven years, overseeing the Agency in growing the economy of Yorkshire and Humber with an annual budget of £350 million. He was honoured in the Queen’s Birthday 2010 list with a CBE for business and regeneration and was recently appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire; he is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, is a Chartered Director, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Huddersfield.

He is a Visiting Professor attached to the Faculty of Business and Law at Leeds Metropolitan University and has recently launched his new brand/business titled “Inspiration for Industry Education and Regeneration” Terry’s wide ranging achievements include successful business start-up, growth and exit; business/region transformation and development of outstanding leaders. He has the ability to channel and shape unique talent so that individuals and business' can achieve their goals.

Behind every success story there are unseen people who have been instrumental in its writing, Terry Hodgkinson is one such person who inspires, leads and motivates.
